Celebrating Football Culture In NY
The Chinatown Invitational is a celebration of football culture that takes place once a year in New York City, bringing together a global community that is bound by their love of football. Every year, the Chinatown Invitational sees creatives from around the world battle it out to win the tournament’s Golden Pig trophy. The tournament was supported by Stone Island, and all the team kits featured an array of Avery Dennison’s specialty badges and transfers.
Each team designed a signature crest inspired by the club’s home city and selected a meaningful number that would appear across all players of that team. This collaboration was not only a true celebration of the game but also an example of playing with style, from a community that resides at the very intersection of design, fashion, football. The identity of each team was authentically explored and embodied via a range of external embellishments: heat transfers, crests, sponsor logos and a commemorative 2019 Chinatown Invitational sleeve badge.
At the conclusion of the tournament it was announced that a silent auction would take place for those eager to get their hands on one of the jerseys. All proceeds from the auctions went to Chinatown Athletic Council, with the winning bidders also set to receive a limited-edition zine, made exclusively for this year’s event.
